VRFocus- Previously VRFocus reported on the new virtual reality (VR) title FIRMA launching its Steam Greenlight campaign. Now the title has been made available on Oculus VR Share. The title is compatible with the first and second iteration of the Oculus Rift (DK1,DK2) head-mounted display (HMD).

There are now 100,000 DK2 headsets in the wild. Thats the news from Oculus CEO Brendan Iribe, who announced the milestone on Twitter just a few hours ago. It marks a significant milestone for the Rift headset, and proves just how popular the unit has become, even though its still a piece of hardware intended for developer use only.

VRFocus - There were a number of surprising developers revealed to be working on Samsung's Gear VR smartphone-based virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD) when it was revealed late last year. Among them was Playful Corp., the team currently working on anticipated VR compatible platform title Lucky's Tale for the Oculus Rift HMD. In fact, a playable version of Lucky's Tale running on Gear VR was on display at the reveal event itself. Sadly, it looks like this version of the title might not see a full release after all.

VRFocus- Virtual reality (VR) enthusiasts may recall last years Gamescom event in Cologne, Germany as being fairly uneventful for the technology. One of the bigger reveals of the show, however, was that Crysis and Ryse: Son of Rome developer Crytek had its own VR showcase to exhibit with the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD). Running on the companys own CryEngine 3, the demo allowed players to walk through a wooded environment. Crytek has kept quiet on its work in VR since that time, but will be revisiting the technology at the upcoming 2015 Game Developers Conference (GDC).

VRFocus - Last year saw indie developer Rosebud Games launch a Kickstarter crowd-funding campaign for an ambitious new videogame named Death in Candlewood. Sadly, the title failed to achieve funding, despite the promise of virtual reality (VR) support with the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD). A few months later the team revealed that it was now working on a tie-in to this horror experience. That tie-in has now been revealed as House of Caravan, set to launch this spring with a VR compatible version following on afterwards.

VRFocus- Indie developer Proton Studios was one of the few developers that released a full virtual reality (VR) compatible videogame in 2014. The studio launched the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD) supported Time Rifters onto PC last October. The title even went on to win 'Best Game' at the inaugural Virtual Reality Awards a few months later. For those that still haven't decided on if they should pick the title up Proton Studios has this week launched a brand new demo for Time Rifters along with a temporary sale.

VRFocus- The Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD) has previously been used to bring certain anime shows to life. Last year saw an Attack on Titan VR experience debut in Japan, for example, while indie developer Nick Pittom has developed two VR titles that let players explore iconic Studio Ghibli creations. Another such experience has been announced this week, this time featuring popular sci-fi anime show, Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet.
